The
History
of the Alec Wright's Guest House
|
|
|
In the
historical heart of Potchefstroom lies the Alec Wright's House with his
elegance of yesteryear. This manor is built and is of the first and
oldest stands marked out in Potchefstroom and was built before 1880 by
a land surveyor.
Just after the Transvaal War the house was sold to Mr Gericke who was a
famous resident of Potchefstroom.
This historical house also served as a hotel for British soldiers
during the war. The little bells in the rooms remind of these years.
Leonie Wright's father, Alec de Lange bought the house from one of the Gericke sons, Hannes, in 1960. From there
the name of this beautiful
retreat, Leonie's father's name together with her surname.
The house boasts with handmade furniture from the 19th century which
promises to take you back to yesteryear.
Indulge in romance in the honeymoon suite, where you and your love can
share a bubble bath in real Victorian style.
